Does it hurt?

No. There is no drilling and no needle. The tooth is cleaned and lightly prepared, the gem is bonded and cured with a light. Some people notice a slight texture with their tongue or lip for a day or two, then forget it.

Will it damage my enamel?

A Twinkles is bonded to the surface of the enamel, never drilled in, using the same composite and the same light preparation used for orthodontic braces. When you want it removed, a dental professional polishes off the bonding agent, not your enamel. As with braces, keeping the edge of the gem clean matters, so brush as you always do.

Can I still brush, floss and whiten?

Brush and floss exactly as before and keep your normal check-ups. If you plan to whiten, do it before the gem goes on. Whitening gel can't reach the enamel under a gem, and it can tint a crystal, though gold is unaffected.

Where do I get it bonded, and what does that cost?

Any dentist or dental hygienist can bond a Twinkles with materials they already use, and many beauty studios offer tooth gems too. Use the clinic locator to find one near you. The bonding fee is set and charged by the clinic, separately from the gem.

Does it work on crowns or veneers?

No. Twinkles bond to natural enamel. Porcelain can't be prepared in the same way, so the bond won't hold.
