We support Maiti Nepal

In October 2009 Twindent decided to make Maiti Nepal the CSR partner by contributing from the www.Twinkles.net web shop turnover to Maiti Nepal. We are also buying products like thaili bags produced in the Maiti Nepal’s workshop for our Twinkles dental jewelry.

Maiti Nepal is an organisation crusading for the prevention of girl trafficking, rescue, rehabilitation, integration of survivors of trafficking.

Why Maiti Nepal

15 years ago, my friend Agneta invited me to join her on a trip to Nepal as she went there on a mission from the adoption agency she worked for. Their contact in Kathmandu, Vilma made our 4 day stay unforgettable. I have lives in several countries and travelled a lot but never experienced a harmony like this in any western culture. We visited two orphanages, a wholly man, walked round the old town of Baktapur, viewed a burial, the tooth fairy at the end of the street with the dental practices where the dentures on sale were displayed in the windows. I found the Nepalese to be very beautiful and interesting people but have never had the opportunity to return.

Trafficking is one of the worse crimes I can imagine and I have always wanted to somehow contribute to fighting these disgusting criminals. Last summer I read an article about Maiti Nepal and its founder Mrs Koirala and I knew I had found my way. Mrs Koirala has created a home for girls victims of trafficking and also prevented many from ever ending up as prostitutes. Maiti is just a small detail in the crusade against one of the world’s largest criminal enterprises but she has made enormous difference for the girls they have helped.
